810/maxima L28 swap spark problem

currently doing a l28 swap from an 83 280zx into my 82 maxima/810. i used the 280zx engine harness and wired it into the maxima, got it turning over but the coil isnt giving any spark. any help?

Back track all your wiring to verify it's correct.

 

Are you getting power to the coil?

im trying my best to look over the wiring diagrams but i mean im no expert so im not 100% sure about it all since im not going off a guide or anything.. ill check for power now, does the car have to be starting or just in the on position?

IIRC, you should have power to the coil with the ignition on without the starter turning. How were you checking for spark from the coil? At a spark plug? Or on the wire feeding to the dizzy?

i checked for spark at the wire that feeds the dizzy

Did you check voltage at the two terminals on the coil? Should be 12v with ignition on.

 

On the 280ZX the coil's wiring was completely separate from the fuel injection or ECU. It was more chassis/dash wiring so it should not have been touched in your swap. :(

tested for power at the coil connections and got it running, positive and neg wires got swapped around somehow lmao -__- now thats fixed i gotta find out why my tranny wont go in reverse...

5th is on the same rod and shift fork. Does 5th still work?

well i havnt drove anywhere yet but i can slide it into the 5 gears when its running but when i try reverse it feels as if im not even pressing the clutch
