im trying my best to look over the wiring diagrams but i mean im no expert so im not 100% sure about it all since im not going off a guide or anything.. ill check for power now, does the car have to be starting or just in the on position?

 

IIRC, you should have power to the coil with the ignition on without the starter turning. How were you checking for spark from the coil? At a spark plug? Or on the wire feeding to the dizzy?

Did you check voltage at the two terminals on the coil? Should be 12v with ignition on.

 

On the 280ZX the coil's wiring was completely separate from the fuel injection or ECU. It was more chassis/dash wiring so it should not have been touched in your swap. :(
