Can this arm be taken apart and a new bearing inserted? Datsun may not sell a new bearing but MSN might just have one to fit. The 520 idler arm can be disassembled and this is shown in the PDF of the repair cataloge from Datsun. So can the 720. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes it comes apart so the bushing can be replaced. Sorry don't have the number for the bushing to cross reference. The '72.5 through '77 620 idler was the same. . Quote Link to comment
wayno
Hi there Roger, This is a 66 datsun 520 idler arm, is this what your idler arm looks like? I generally remove this style, as it seems to get in my way. I replace it with the more recent style. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
They are two different ones for the 520/521 but makes sense they will interchange as most of the steering is the same between them anyway. Quote Link to comment

If it can be rebuilt, the tie rod and cross rod don't need to be removed and the alignment messed up. Anyone know where I can get a bushing? Nissan? Quote Link to comment
wayno
Just buy a new one roger, and it shouldn't change your alignment, but I don't know that for sure. Just get a pickling fork and remove the tierods, pull the thing off the frame and put a new one on, then your done. Quote Link to comment
