Timing chain...

Is it important to replace the chain at some point? I just got my 521 without much history of repairs etc. and was curious if this is something I should look into. My '71 supposedly has only 85k miles. I just don't want it bustin' up inside my engine!!!!!!!!!!

if motor looks timed(watch vid) then dont worry about it.

But if you ever take the front cover off I would have at least a new tensioner and slack side guide ready to be swaped in. Buy a timming chain ket when possibel itf you think your going to keep this. Get a Good set(100%Japan made set)not all are Jap. esp the cam sprocket could be the USA made ones and not good cause you cant see the timming marks.

also change the anti freez and mix it 50/50. This helps preserve the timming cover and water pump. With alum motor best to change out every 5 years or so maybe 3yrs.
