Rob W.
I was reading the installation instructions for the Weber adapter that I will use as soon as my carb gets here (hopefully tomorrow) and it says to use grease to set the gaskets not rtv. What type of grease? Would assembly grease work or should I use grease like for wheel bearings? Does it really matter? Does it even need grease? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
You do not need grease...I always put mine on dry on all my carbs including the Weber 32/36 for the last 30 years. It might not hurt, but is not necessary. Quote Link to comment

jesusno2
I grease gaskets all the time, they seal up niceley that way, and the don't stick! Mainly valve cover gaskets and stuff that may need to be serviced often that requires a gasket. I rtv the snot outta both sides on those 2 peice weber adapters so theirs no chance of airleaks. Also I loctight the studs in the upper plate so they don't twist down and open the the gap between the 2. You'll see what I'm saying when ya get the adapters. Quote Link to comment
Rob W.
What type of rtv do you use don't most react with gas? I have the adapter and see the possibility of air leaks I was planning on using loctite but was worried about the gaskets Quote Link to comment
