195sRFast
Will a l16 head will work on a l20b block. Just got my l16 head back from the shop but the new rings for the l16 block are too small. I have a l20b block that has been redone and am wondering if they will work together? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes it will. I swapped an L20B from a car into my 521 back in the late '70. My friend who had it blew the gasket and I helped fix it. So I got it off him and within a month It blew again, I replaced it and it blew again. My first warped head, duh. While it was being shaved I needed my truck. I went to Midway Datsun in town and they said it wouldn't fit/work.... but after checking the gasket and holes, I yanked the 210 head of my old '68 510 in the field and slapped it on. It ran fine as is didn't change a thing. Took it to the dealer and showed the guy, he shook his head and called the mechanic out to look. Guess they didn't know. What I didn't know then was the compression would be slightly higher (9.3) but maybe the gas was better back then????Yours may ping a bit. Turn the timing back slightly and keep an eye out for an L20B head replacement. Quote Link to comment
