how to remove trim

anyone know how to remove the rain gutter trim on a 2 door 510 i got some ideas but thought i should ask here first so i don't ruin it.

I took mine off with a few flat tip screwdrivers. Find a spot underneath and pry/push/work your way around it carefully. Hard to explain without showing you.

but you basically have to pry up the edge, thats what i thought, but when you put it back on you just crimp it down with pliers?

I had a really hard time getting mine off. It came down to using a #4 screw drivers, block of wood, a church key, and some courage...as soon as you get a little of it popped, it starts going a lot easier. I had to try different spots to try and find the spot where it popped off easier. Good luck.

I think it should go back on snug unless you really bend and work the trim loose. You should be ok.

The trim pops back on. I removed mine prior to repaint and it was scary. go slow, it gets tricky on the curved sections. Honestly if I were to do it again I wouldn't remove it, and just tape them off.

 

The nice thing is you can run it through the buffer and get them polished up nicely before you reinstall them. Although that is just another opportunity to mangle them :lol:

they have special pliers for removing them without marring them, i just used plasti-dip and made a set. That in conjunction with a couple plastic prybars and it should be no problem massaging the trim off in an upward direction.
