dgi
72 PL510 with dogleg 5-speed. My speedometer quit working today on my way to work. It was working fine at 70mph on the way... maybe it just got tired? So, what would be the most likely culprit? Didn't have much time to check it out tonight. But the connect at the back of the speedometer is tight and the connection at the transmission is too. Is it likely to be the cable broken and how can I check that? Or, are these old speedos prone to just dying? Thanks for any help. Quote Link to comment
djlotus
Sounds like the cable snapped. It happens. Quote Link to comment
H5WAGON
Pull the cable....probably gave up the ghost....cruising at 70....:D Quote Link to comment
dgi
Yep, just cruisin... traffic was moving slow that morning :D Actually it stopped working later on a city street. Anyway to determine if the cable is broken without pulling it out? Quote Link to comment
izzo
No not really, you could pull the gauge cluster, put something in there and spin it. see if it moves. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Pull the gauge end and drive... see if it turns. Quote Link to comment
