Just upgraded my dual points carb(hell fucking yeah) :D to a matchbox dizzy Ive got a rebuilt carb on the L16, and whats everyones adj for idle and air??? ive got it running by ear and it seems okay but im just wondering.... I HAVE SEARCHED!!!to no avail and looked at the old datsuns.com website... just dont want to run it lean thanks Jeff Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted August 28, 2010 Report Share Posted August 28, 2010 The idle adjustments will only affect the idle. Before setting idle mixture: Set ignition timing and valve lash at the least. Warm up thoroughly. I turn the idle speed down so that small changes are easier to notice. Turn the mixture screw in, in 1/2 turn steps until there is definite dropping off in idle quality. Now turn out wards keeping track of the turns until idle quality drops off, usually 2-3 full turns. Turn screw back roughly into the middle or where the idle is smoothest. Idle speed may rise so turn down and repeat the idle mixture screw adjustment. Keep going until you can't improve the idle quality and set idle speed. Quote Link to comment
