sick620
well you should store it with no oil... but I would just use the regular oil.... what head do you have? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Going in the Marines??????? Sell it. automatics(torq converter) sucks up power. Putting a L18 into it isnt going to make a true difference. Maybe put a manual transmission into it. But by then youll lose interest as youll have other isses to deal with than wanting to work on cars on your off time in the Marines(go down town to get LAID was I was worried about when I was in the Airforce, not working on cars). Why I say this as there wil be rule on how many people get cars on base and where they get stored if one goes to Iraq/Afganistan ect...... if too much travel its best not to have a car unless you know where your going(dont get tied down) I say ck the cam timming and electrical timming 1st.Maybe that can free up soem HP. http://www.guba.com/watch/3000024223/Hainz-Datsun-L-Series-Engine-01-Timing-Tare-down-and-Rebuild put a manual trans in there and a electronic ignition. synthetic on a 300$ car ?? Dont waist your money on that. Get otherstuff more important first. I use reg oil on all my rigs. Quote Link to comment
Jayden71
A friend of mine got his L18 bored 60 over and then put a hot cam in it. That thing is pretty sick, especially with a Weber on it. Good luck in the Marines and hope to see yer project thread on here soon. Quote Link to comment
tylerbea18
my job in the marines is working on helicopters and herriers , and i have the paper work filled out for base car storage and space, i am being based in san diago and already have on base housing done, so that is takin care of, the reason for the 18 build is because it is out of the car ready to be built and tuned instead of ripping out the 16 and do the same thing i can do all i want and use a bigger engine. i also have a 67 mustang coupe with my built cobra jet 302, and that is staying here in des moines until i have a more perminent station, and my grandpa gave my mom his 67 fastback cuda which i hope i am getting for graduation, neither of those are consern as much as an investment. the car was 300 hundred dollars because thats wat he was goin to get for scrapping it and i bought before it was going to be crushed into a little useless datsun cube/ paper weight, and i have had a few nissans and i wanted more of a layed back datsun just for looks and confort but i would like to have a little more giddy up Quote Link to comment
