phatdave
Any idea how much a rebuild would cost me?...for my currently, 2 speed dogleg? I'm in Vantucky/PDX. Thinking maybe get it running with a 4 speed and in the mean time have a mechanic fix it. Quote Link to comment
kiznook
probably more than it's worth. Just go to the junkyard and get yourself a ZX 5speed Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Dave is this your dogleg? You had a post a long time ago about an unidentified tranny. Did it turn out to be the dogleg you have now?? http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/datzenmike/phatdaveunknownZtrans.jpg[/img]"] It has a Z car mount on it, was it for a Z car? RacnJsn95
Hmmm... Another mystery longtail dogleg appears? The plot thickens! Quote Link to comment
phatdave
Shit Mike how the Fuck did you remember that? It is a 63a stamped tranny. So given conventional wisdom it IS a Dogleg. Kiz...you never know what you get from a junked car. With a rebuild I WILL KNOW what I have. A like new transmission. Quote Link to comment
RacnJsn95
Yup, you can see the 63A in the picture, just like my trans... Boy, these longtail doglegs are popping up all over the place! ;) Be sure to post up when you find someplace to rebuilt it, or somehwere that sells the parts to rebuild it. I'd like to rebuild mine someday. I did come across a place that sells a bearing kit, or a bearing&synchro kit, not gears though. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Shit Mike how the Fuck did you remember that? It is a 63a stamped tranny. So given conventional wisdom it IS a Dogleg. The 810/910 Maxima is based on the 280Z car chassis so maybe that's a Maxima tranny mount!!! I remember someone saying it looked like it was a Z car mount (and it does) so no one thought different right? The only reason I brought it up is because I have the picture labeled 'phatdave's mystery tranny' and noticed it looked familiar and wanted the label correct. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Who's dogleg? This guy on another forum. He's having problems with a replacement tranny he got for his Z series motor. When he installed it, he found that reverse was now above first and he no longer had the H pattern. If he posts any pics I'll pass them on. Z series dogleg...'80-'81 HL 510??... what next???
