tbubar
Anyone know how to remove the disk from the hub on a '74 710? My manual says remove the bolts, then tap it with a hammer, but that's not working...anyone do this before and have any tips? It seems like there's some kind of ring or something holding it in, but I can't figure out how to remove it. Here's a pic of what it looks like from the inside: Thanks in advance... -Todd Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Probably just rusted on a little. Flip it over, support the disk with a couple 2x4s and hit the hub center with a rubber mallet. Quote Link to comment
tbubar
You're right, I just had to whack it a little harder...I ended up resting the hub on a log and beating on the old rotor with a hammer. Rubber mallet just didn't have enough oomph. Thanks, Todd Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Just as a note/suggestion for anyone reading this that does not want to use a hammer....as in they need to reuse both parts..... a lot of times, the hub sticks out further than the rotor on the back side(the view in the pic). You can put a piece of wood down, so that you don't damage the hub... turn the hub so the lugs are up....raise the assembly up and slam it down on the wood so that the hub hits squarely. The inertia of the rotor will usually pop it off. Quote Link to comment
