nissan720 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Share Posted May 17, 2010 what is the rear end gear ratio in the 1984 nussan 720 2wd.i would like to chane mine to get better accelleration out of the hole.i have several engine mods bigger cam,weber carb, msd ignition ,header,magnaflow exhaust system,by the way the engine does not have the stock compression,its better than stock.just need some rear in gearing to help get this thing out of the hole quicker.where can i find a deeper than stock gear. datzenmike Posted May 17, 2010 Report Share Posted May 17, 2010 Look on the passenger side inner fender below the hood hinge. There is a credit card sixe aluminum tag with that info stamped on it. The tag looks like this: Lower left it says TRANS/AXLE......... FS5W71B.....HF38 HF38 means 3.889 ratio an HF41 would be 4.11, HF43 would be 4.375 and so on. The 720s used 3.364, 3.70, 3.889, 4.11, 4.375 and 4.625 ratios. This makes checking the junk yards much easier when looking for a rear end. . Quote Link to comment
