tomcat
My battery light came on the other day, and my truck was squeeling something terrible, so i replaced the Alternator and belt, well the squeeling stopped, and the the light was off... for a minute, and popped right back on. The only thing i can think of that wasnt right was the little doo-dad that bolts to the alternator behind one of the wires on the back and bridges to the other. It looks like a capacitor to me, some sort or voltage regulator? not too sure exactly what it does, but anyways, the wire was broke off of it. Could that cause my charge light to be on? datzenmike
Probably a noise filter for the radio to reduce 'alternator whine' on the speaker. Should work without it. Better disconnect it so it doesn't touch anything. Many rebuilt alternators are bad right out of the box, so beware. Quote Link to comment
