5 speed

Ok so i just found a 5 speed to put into my 521. i just have a question on what it really takes to make this swap happen i have the l20 in there with the 4 speed and it just wasnt given me enough so i have to move up to the 5 speed any suggestions on how to mount it under there and whatnot

I did a 5 speed swap on my old 521 last year. Came out of a 83 Z car.Overall not a hard task but i ran into a few "surprises".

Driveshaft had to be shortened...

Trans. mount had to be modified [shortened]...

Output flange had to be welded [closed off]...

Search 5 speed. Been done before plenty. One piece driveshaft...modify the mount,,,freeze plug slammed into the driveshaft flange...modify the shifter cover plate in the cab and drive it really fast.

 

Might...more than likely will...need to pull the motor to help the 5speed fit.

 

Easy actually...just slightly time consuming.
