81datsun
Hey i am new to the Datsun scene, I recently picked up a 1981 Datsun 210 for $100.00. Iam planing on driving it threw the winter and gradually collect parts for the summer tare down. I am 19 years old and working part time so it aint going to happen over night lol. I am also helping raise a 2 year old girl, so not a lot of spare money. This is a picture of the car the day i picked it up. This is just a front shot of it. The only dents are on the drivers side. Here is a picture of the passenger side. Bought a cheap set of alum. slots. The other ones were juss rusty Heres an ass shot. and the engine bay. Pretty dirty but it runs. my plans throughtout the winter and next summer will be to get an 12a rotary motor, fix rust, dents, and paint. Quote Link to comment
TrevDaddy
Cool lil beater. I love yellow datsuns, the color just fits. Good luck with the build and hopefully the rust doesn't kill ya.:D Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
It's got the right old-school wheels, good buy at that. Quote Link to comment
81datsun
Yah theirs some rust...lol but it should turn out alright. The wheels i paid $35.00 for all 4 so i am not complaining. the car had sat in a field for like 6 years. and the only thing wrong with it was the starter... Quote Link to comment
Tompsukka
Nice! Another 210! Remember to post alot of pics! Love your wheels! Hate your usa bumpers :D Quote Link to comment
81datsun
Yah i dont like the bumpers either. but i will keep em juss for the winter because of the drivers up here. Well i got the car on the road after replacing the starter, rotor, wires, plugs, new oil, rad. flush and new fluids, balanced all the wheels. and did a quick floor patch for the winter so i dont have a pile of snow between my feet. Is their anywhere i can purchase some floor pans or some that will work? Also will any other bumpers work on this car with lil modifacation? Quote Link to comment
Tompsukka
Well i gotta brag a little  (Beacouse the bumbers are the only thing i have to brag about) http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d72/tompsukka/?action=view¤t=DSCF0425.jpg Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
510 bumpers will work with a little modification in width. Nissan-Datsun South Africa fitted 510 bumpers to the B110, so for the B310 just add 1-1/2 inch to the width. Unlike a B210 the body is the same USA to JDM (with B210 there is a gaping hole behind the park benches). Quote Link to comment
lil89ram50
hoooah boy theres a pretty sexy peice of "art" there! Quote Link to comment
81datsun
Haha u know it moen. Hows your truck coming along? I got a set of fender flares for the 210. Aint gunna touch them till my body works all done. Quote Link to comment
81datsun
Well i started driving the datsun. It is winter here but i get around pretty good ,only problems is that it wont heat up at all the motor wont and my alternator went out. so i dont have a car to drive till the weekend. When i can get it into the shop. Because i took the alternator off today and it was like -20 out so i dont think i will work on it outside ne more. ggzilla
Got that alternator replaced yet? Rebuilt units are inexpensive at RockAuto.com, about $50. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Stick some cardboard in front of the rad for a quick fix. Leave a hand sized opening in it and take care if idling for a long time. When you get better weather change the thermostat. Don't even waste your time testing it just get a good $12 one and new gasket. Quote Link to comment
81datsun
Hey yah i got a new alternator that cost like $55.00 and a new thermastat. Me and lil89ram50 put in this past weekend. And i found out why my temp. gauge wasnt working, the wire was broke at the end so that also got fixed. I also got all my bumper ends put back on, and my interior put all back together. Edited December 21, 2009 by 81datsun Quote Link to comment
510-Trevor
Nice beater, but before you spend any money on the body work you should consider taking a couple days to come get this one in Calgary: http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1980-DATSUN-210-ONLY-52-813-ORIGINAL-KM-FULLY-INSP-SAFETIED-W0QQAdIdZ174913155 Quote Link to comment

81datsun
hey thought i would put a picture of the differant rims i got for the 210 now. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I juss want sumthing to do the speed limit on the highwayGet a Datsun 210. It can cruise an 80mph with a 95 mph top speed. And thats with the smallest A12A engine. Most of them have an A14. Quote Link to comment
81datsun
Well i have the a12a and i dont think mine will go near that fast, i guess i havent tried kinda babying it since it sat for 6 years but it will seriously go that fast? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Sure it will. If it is tuned-up and in good running condition. Redline is 6,000 RPM so wind it up, it's a Datsun so don't baby it. Quote Link to comment
81datsun
hey thanx man now i think i might keep this motor gets the gas mileage i like. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Have fun with it. I've owned three of them just like your picture (2-door B310 sedans). But now I have the smaller Datsun, the B110. It has a top speed of 90mph from 1171cc A12, which is smaller than the 1237cc of the A12A. Anyways, cruises at 75mph on I-5 just fine. Quote Link to comment
