oldsklminitrk
I got a question...this 320 I bought has been converted to a 12 volt system not the old 6volt positive ground.Well my fuel tank sender is disconected and I cant tell how much fuel I got in the tank.Is there a way to make the old sending unit work or what do I need to do to upgrade it? Jester
Maybe take a sender out of a 520/521. I believe they had 10 gallon tanks. What is the capacity of your 320 tank? Quote Link to comment
oldsklminitrk
It appears to be a 10 gal tank. But I was told also the guage is a 6 volt positive ground but I dunno never messed with anything 6 volt so Im kinda new to this. Quote Link to comment
LAYEDOUTB2K
It's actually a 12 volt positive ground system. The fuel gauge worked in my L320 whether it was hooked up to positive or negative.(I went back to positive ground) I'm guessing it might be another issue. Try pulling your sender unit in the tank out and clean the contacts. Sometimes fuel will corrode on the unit where the arm moves inside of the tank. Luckily 320s have an access panel in the bed to get at the unit instead of dropping the tank. Quote Link to comment

Well it wasn't connected. He cut the wire when he upgraded it to a alternator.I was just wondering before I connect it all back together would it work.Since it was a 6volt system. LAYEDOUTB2K
320s weren't ever 6 volt systems, they were just 12 volt positive ground systems. Quote Link to comment
fisch
320s weren't ever 6 volt systems, they were just 12 volt positive ground systems. Totally, even the '59 is a 12V. We are pretty lucky in that respect! Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The fuel gauge worked fine on mine, which was converted with a GM alternator. Temperature gauge, whole 'nother story. Like every other 320 I've seen, it's stuck all the way over on "H". Quote Link to comment
