Compression test

I had everything set up for the valve adjustment vid, so I figured why not do one for the compression test.

The remote start switch connects from the batt + to the small solenoid terminal on the starter.....the one that is triggered by the key switch. You can use the ign key, just make sure you don't leave the compression tester laying on anything that will damage it.

It's a good idea to do a compression test both before and after you adjust your valves. That way, you have an idea if you made it better or worse. I didn't do one before, so I don't know if the adjustment helped, but the backfiring went away, so it had to have helped! :)

It's a remote start switch. It's simply a momentary push button that connects from the + on the batt to the small terminal on the starter solenoid. So, instead of the ign key providing the juice, the remote start switch does. You can buy them pre-made or make one with some wire and a mom. push button from the parts store. With the ign key off, it will crank, but not start. If you have the ign key on, it will start.....so make sure the key is where you want it. :)

We used these a lot when I used to work on a farm. Except the ones we used had a metal shaft that was flat at one end, and had a plastic handle on the other :D
