VoidDragon
Hi all. I'll be heading out to a couple yards in the next few days that I know keeps some older stuff. I know of one with at least three or four old 620s. The next area on the 620 I just bought that I want to go over is the carb. This means I either what to rebuild the hitachi thats on it, or switch it out for something else. I'll be near a few older Volvos, which got me into looking at SU carbs. But I can't find much info on the swap. ( SU is too short for the search so my searches keep getting bounced back ) So in short> What am I looking for in a replacement carb for a L20? What SU carbs work best?(that is, from what vehicles) Are SU even worth it? SU vs Weber thanks all. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Weber is easier to mount with a single adapter. Can be jetted to give good performance and reasonable economy. SU need an sss or custom manifold for the L series but are infinitely tuneable. Good running and great economy when 'dialed in'. Quote Link to comment
Mr.Fahrenheit
can anyone tell me what kind of set up i got here http://s757.photobucket.com/albums/xx216/MrFahrenheit69/ Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Looks like factory Datsun Hitachi Twin Carb setup, but the throttle cable setup is not factory. I'm guessing the are the later dome tops (1972?) Edited October 11, 2009 by ggzilla Quote Link to comment
Mr.Fahrenheit
cool, that pretty common or rare?? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Not rare, but not too common. You'll see a lot of them at car shows. On craiglist, eBay... Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
For SU carbs are the junkyard, look for the 1.5" SUs which will fit on the common L-series factory & aftermarket Twin Hitachi manifolds. Dunno about L-series engine prices... Quote Link to comment
zerow
You also have the emissions intake manifold. It makes "dialing in" a little bit harder, not to say it cannot be done. Also, here's some other pointers... http://forum.ratsun.net/showthread.php?t=4035 Quote Link to comment
