Grille Q's

i have a '79 620KC, the grille that came with the truck has verticle slats all the way between the headlights. However, when i get on ebay or other parts sites, grilles i am finding there have both horizontal and vertical bars running between the headlights, forming a sort of mesh pattern. which grille goes with what models years? or are the "mesh" looking grilles just cheap aftermarket copies? Thanks!

I've never seen the mesh ones. (the one on ebay is vertical slats, just has two thin bars behind the slats to hold it all in place)

 

The thick vertical slats are proper for 1978-79. The earlier 620 had more slats that were thin and chrome rings around all four headlights.

ok thanks. i have the correct grille then...but i do want the "earlier" grille for the chrome rings (i like the thinner bars too) i'll keep looking, but thanks for the help!!!

The pre '78 grills rock! (relax, just PP) One of the first things I did was get one for my '78. I have a spare '75 and another '78 just in case. Last month a bunch of lumber fell on the '78 one..... (shrug)

I traded my early grill for the late grill. I like the 1978-79 better :D

well i guess i am looking for a pre-78 grille now! i just missed a good one on ebay, still in the plastic! oh well, if it was easy to restore a datsun, everybody would be doing it right?
