620 short bed or long bed?

I have a 620 with a long 720 bed. If I want to put a 620 bed on does it have to be the long one too? what is involved in putting a short one on if possible?

 

I just love the 620 lights and the "DATSUN" stamp on the tailgate.

You cant put a long bed on a short bed truck, the wheel wells are in different locations. ANd the long bed truck has a longer frame, obvioulsy. I am sure it can be donewith a little modification. But seems alot of work...

they do shortie conversions on c10s all the time,shorten the frame and driveshaft

You have a reg cab long bed 620 so a short bed will fit on but there will be a 8-9 inch gap behind the cab.

 

BTW, how did you get the signal lights working on that '83 box?

Hello,

 

Are you asking how the signal lights work on the 720 bed? THe answer is, they are wired off the loom. why would that be a problem? the reversing lights were the only troublesome bit of electrickery...

Mike, in Thailand (and the rest of the worls except US/Canada) 620 taillights and 720 taillights are darn near identical as far as wiring goes. Only the US and Canada has the combined brake/signal lights.

No kiddin? Took me a long while to figure out the 620 vs. the 720 system when I put it in my 620. Desperately wanted my 620 tail lights but the 720 signals are separate. Good to know Doug.

oh yeah, I forgot, everything is red on the North American motors back end. Not so here (or in England for that matter). I like the yank look. Actually i have it on my S Class Benz. But its not standard fare over here.
