atkinson40
I'm trying to determine the piston size in my '72 PU. On the block it's stamped as a L18 so I know it's had an engine swap from the original L16. I took the piston to the local service station and he measured it at 3.304". I looked in the manual and the only piston coming close to that size is listed as a L16 with a .0394 oversize. Did we measure it wrong? Thanks kevin:confused: Quote Link to comment

It would if it was an L16 engine, but its an L18, and the smallest diameter listed for an L18 is 3.3451. That's what lead me to believe I may have measured wrong somehow. -K Quote Link to comment
hang_510
:o i read 3.34 (or 85mm) not 3.304... time to invest in a caliper... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Stock L16 83mm or 3.27" Stock L18 85mm or 3.349" Quote Link to comment
atkinson40
Stock L16 83mm or 3.27"Stock L18 85mm or 3.349" The block definately says L18. At the service station we measured 3.304 which might pass for an L16 stock. Hence my confusion. I need to aquire a micrometer of my own and measure again. Thanks Mike -K Quote Link to comment
