Apollo77
has anyone ever swapped out their pulleys to get more performance out of the engine? if so, where did you get them? do i need "Datsun" pulleys, or can i find any pulley that has the same dimensions? i was told to look for lighter ones with really good bearings, but cant find any that say they will work for Datsun. thanks DV Quote Link to comment
motavated
They are some single pulley's that come in l18/l16 that weigh less. I seen some one here with a small little aluminum pulley, but he races. I don't know were he got that one from. Ask dat u racing. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Dont even worry about it!!!!!!!Not worth the effort unless your doing a all out race motor, which ur not. oh buy the way if you get the L16/18 pully most people forget to tell you to get the matching pointer (goes on front cover)so youll know where TDC is. MikeRL411
As far as the water pump pulleys go, surprisingly big block Chevy and Ford 2 and 3 row pulleys can be made to fit Datsun water pump bolt patterns quite easily. They usually clear the water pump spinner also. 2 or 3 row because you are not sure just which groove comes close to your fan belt. You may have to ream the bolt hole a bit larger or slot them, but steel ones are all over the JY and after you figure out what does and doesn't fit you can splurge for aftermarket aluminium or chromed ones.
