az_rat210
Some Information: When I go around a corner, if I hit a bump or dip the car hops. Yesterday, I had the rear-end jacked up so I could run it in gear to see if speedometer cable was spinning and BOTH rear wills spin forward. Locked or Welded Posi Rear-End? The rear end came out of a 78 B210GX Auto, so it should be a 3:9 Rear, but POSI TRAC? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Highly unlikely in a B210. But possible. Do this test. * block front wheels so car wont' roll, put emercgency brake OFF * Put car in gear * Jack up rear wheels * can you turn it? If you can turn it, it is not a locked spool (or welded). If it is Limited Slip (POSI TRACTION is GM trademark for a kind of Limted Slip), I don't think it will turn either. Quote Link to comment
az_rat210
Thanks much. I will give it a shot today after work. Quote Link to comment
b210in
here's an easier way, have a buddy stand outside the car and then try to do a burnout. if both tires burn out, you got a posi. if not you have another problem. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
uh, can a B210 do a burnout? Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
If it is Limited Slip (POSI TRACTION is GM trademark for a kind of Limted Slip), I don't think it will turn either. yes it will. if both wheels spin in the same direction, then its an LSD or welded. if they spin opposite, then its an open or not welded. i have done this test MANY times, and found my pathy has an LSD but nothing else right now. datzenmike
WD 21 Pathfinders have a small orange sticker on the 'bum' that says LSD or USE LSD OIL. The older ones have a brake away torque of almost 200 ft lb. The 2000 Exterra are like 30. Quote Link to comment
