Laughlin, Nv today-Sunday

Laughlin is trying another car show based on the "Hot August Nights" idea. It starts today through Sunday. Choptana is entered. There is no stipulation on Japanese vehicles or cut off year. Each casino will have spots for vehicles and You "cruise" from 1 P.M. to 3 through each casino in a row making the show "moving" rather than static. This is the first year so I thought I'd give it a try. Any of You guys off this weekend come on over!!!!

I am blown away!!!! Out of over 400 VERY NICE vehicles (1 a VW, the rest American iron) Choptana won a plaque for one of the TOP 150 vehicles!!!

 

 

So, Japanese iron is appreciated!! The only one there!! Come on You guys, plan to attend next year!!

THANKS GUYS!! This plaque totally blew Me away!! I never would have expected it and I am still in awe!! There are (at least to Me) still about 20 things that need to be done to Choptana. For one, the paint still has not been rubbed out. I think it looks aweful, especially against the obvious paint jobs that I feel should have been given this plaque!! Also, the windshield that was used has very obvious scratches from a windshield wiper. My glass guy has moved away so that hasn't been polished yet (ideas???). An old, used windshield. Obvious stuff like that. So to win this was a real honor!!!

 

This run hopefully will continue. I don't know if they made Their $$$$ with the economy. What they did was to show cars at 8 of the casinos in smaller areas. A poker walk got You to walk to each casino to see the cars. What they did AND I LIKE THIS IDEA (probibly how I got the plaque) was EVERY pedestrian could get a voting ballot. There were THOUSANDS of votes the announcer said. So actually, the visitors to Laughlin voted it in, NOT just car show entrance votes. Also, the top car got $3000.00, the second $2000.00 and third $1000.00 !!!! There were also some $100.00 winners. I LIKE THAT IDEA!!!! The main thought (which hopefully will be refined better) was the CRUISE. You were supposed to "assemble" at the Tropicana for ALL CARS to cruise in a line from all 10 casinos up through the valet areas from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. I did that but there must have been some miscommunication as only about 30 cars cruised. A few more joined in when they figured out it was the cruise. It would really have been a trip to see a few hundred continuous cars on the cruise!! Maybe next year they will instruct better on that.

 

Finally, the anouncer mentioned that Fox Network was filming for the "Roddin and Racing" show. I have never seen this show so I am vague on it. She said it would be aired soon so if any of You know about that show (or if that is even the correct title), please let Me know.

Myself and one guy with a Volkswagen were the only two non American vehicles to place. You can see what I was up against so I am once again humbled to have even been considered for this plaque, much less received it!!

 

I still haven't found any photos yet from this run.

 

Come on guys!!!!!!!!!!! Try to make this run next year!!! It was a blast!!

Keep in mind that this is a CRUSIN' based run, not just static display at one Casino. I had a blast and would like to see some of You come over/down next year for this run. I will have limited room available at My new barn in the singlewide on that property so start planning for next year!! Maybe We could have a Bar-B-Que there or whatever.
