Hello everyone, ive just had the pleasure of getting a free (under 1 condition, i restore it and not part it out) datsun 521 from the original owner (it was a work truck and shows it). So i figured why not say hello in the "truck" area of the forum. Well anyway its been sitting for 9 years and after putting a fresh battery in it and cranking it forever (to get fuel to the carb) it ROARED (not really) to life then died... Ok so i took the carb apart and cleaned it put it back on and she runs!!! Started bleeding brakes and 2 wheel cylinders started leaking, so i fixed them, and last but not least i rebuilt the clutch master cyl, and now she starts and stops! Anyway here are some crappy pics from her resting place for the past 9 years.

no engine shots..all stock not a thing touched since datsun assembled it in 1971. There is rust here and there nothing major afterall i am on ratsun am i not ;) The front end was oviously damaged over its lifetime so im working on straightening that luckily no major damage just the upper and lower valences and bumper. Im trying to get it ready to be my daily driver until my 510 is dailyable. Ill get some motor shots tomorrow to show off my blue air cleaner!

Lol man i love your art but how can you like those overbars haha. I took them off my 510 and ill be doing the same to the truck haha. The bar along the bed i have no idea what it is but its coming off too. Ill continue to protest the 720 valence. I just dont see what you see are you talking about the upper (with the blinkers that the 720 doesnt have) or the bottom with 4 holes instead of the 2 that the 720 has? Please correct me if im wrong thats just what it looks like in the pics on google.

they do not have "datsun" marked on them but i assume they are some sort of option or a well made aftermarket item for this truck because they fit very well. Im not a fan of the mirrors either and plan to find something less bulky. Well today just for shits and giggles i removed the HORRIBLE house carpet from in the cab, and i also test fitted one of my original 510 seats in the truck. It fit extremely well and after a couple mods i now have a more comfortable drivers seat. Pictures below are of the old bench seat and the 510 seat mounted in the truck. What do you guys think? Im 6'0 like 220-230 and feels alright. My daily is done for now so if i dont get this truck drivable im two footin everywhere haha.
