datzenmike
how about a ka crank : ) The crank main bearings on the KA are much larger diameter than the L or Z series so forget that. They could be machined down, but why not use a Z24 crank? The mains ARE the same as an L. It can be done by trimming the throws and relieving the cylinder skirts but this seriously affects the rod length to stroke ratio. Effectively the shorter rod on longer stroke pulls the piston more sideways as it nears the half way point down the cylinder. Friction and piston scuffing can result. Link to comment
sssr20det510
I think there is one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-510-620-PU-Z24-Performance-Stroker-Crank-Shaft_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem160325021944QQitemZ160325021944QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Link to comment
datzenmike
That's a Z24 crank. Will only fit the Z24 block. It's simply a truck crank... there's nothing performance about it. His adds are either misleading or his knowledge about Z cranks are limited to what Jason Gray has learned about them. At best, it would fit an L20B or Z20/Z22 motor built after '75. Even then, not without major alterations to the block. This crank will never fit a 510 car's L-16 period. Won't even fit the L-18s. Here's another: No mention that this will over heat the stock coil and likely fry it. EI dizzys need an EI coil. Imagine how pissed someone would be thinking this is a simple swap? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-510-620-E1280-Performance-Electronic-Distributor_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ006QQitemZ160325023112QQtcZphoto Imagine buying these and finding you have to over bore your 510's L-16 or 240Z 3.5mm!!!!! That's 0.138" Even the L20B in your 620 would need about a 60 thou. increase in bore. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-240Z-280Z-510-620-New-86-5mm-Flat-Top-Pistons_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ6763QQihZ006QQitemZ160325022901QQtcZphoto Edited April 4, 2009 by datzenmike Link to comment
sssr20det510
Yes you can stuff it into a l20b block or z22 block thats how you mak a lz24 Here is a good read http://www.srpl.com/~robert/2007/Jason_Gray.htm Edited April 3, 2009 by sssr20det510 Link to comment
