  1. That would be awesome. My hood is slathered in bondo and I think it is one of the thai remakes. It doesn't fit well at all. If we can't figure something out on a meet up I might just have to make a trip to NC, or pay for shipping, but I don't really like shipping hoods and such. They never take care of large items and body panels are so rare down here that I don't think I could risk it if there is another way.
  2. Cause the meet was in Haddock (1 caution light town...) He ended up trading an LTD for the trailer, it just happened to be full of hay :P
  3. This is awesome. I want a 510 so badly. Hopefully I can pick one up with income taxes, even though my 620 is no where near finished (basicly just started it...)
  4. Hrm... I like this thread :) Definately approve of restoring a 4x4 because I have never seen one down here in the sticks. You should sell me the hood that you aren't using :P Hard to find parts on the east coast it seems. I always run across stuff when I don't have the money... Edit: I think slotting the bed mount would be the way to go. No one would ever notice and even if they did all that matters is making it match what you want.
  5. Ended up working a thirteen hour day yesterday... If I can atleast remove the silver tape I will try to make next month's meet. With my company ending its fiscal year Feb 1st there is no telling what my schedule will be though.
  6. Haha, love that. but mine was only $700 :P
  7. Fat guys in little trucks! :)
  8. I took him out to an autocross meet. He was fine till a ratty as porsche pulled up. Had the stinger pipe on it, thing was loud as hell and only went 14ft/hr. Come to find out the guy driving was scared cause it was daddy's baby and he wasn't suposed to take it to the meet. My son heard the exhaust (was 4 at the time) and he was done. I think that may have turned him off from cars.
  9. Yea, I was looking at grants. Until I start working on the interior I don't think I'm going to worry about the wheel. Unless I have serious trouble getting in and out after I lower it. The main reason I want to wait is I haven't committed 100% to what I want to do with the truck. I know I want it static dropped, probably 3 inches front and back, but besides that I am still getting ideas. I am liking the idea of a bench seat more now. Have seen a few reupholstered ones and they can be really nice. Not a fan of the cloth, but maybe a mock hot rod style vinyl or something. Other than that I know I want to do a satin finish with a satin black hood. I am thinking satin blue (a darker shade) but then again the original color of my truck was orange and I have been thinking about that as well. So long as its not red I think it will be fine :P
  10. Yea, I used to go to one with my grandpa. I remeber coming back with a a trailer full of hay and a rolling chassis for an iroc... Which was towed behind the trailer... Gotta love GA :P
  11. Photo edit looks nice. That will be a really sweat ride when it is finished. I haven't paid much attention to any B310s yet, but I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
  12. You hear that a lot in my area. So much so that we petitioned the county inspectors and they shut down 3 stations over the last year for watering down gas. Now it is better but there are stations popping up left and right again so I'm sure they will miss something. I go to places I have been using for years. If I went there in my eclipse and it ran the same as always, I stuck with it. Another point to add though is these people may not have cleaned their tanks. Running a tank almost empty, which people are doing more and more now because of prices, and then filling up sloshes all of that grime out of the bottom of the tank. Just think of what our datsun's would have in them after their 35-50 years. That makes it harder to believe the whole "my car ran worse, must be water" remarks. Esp if you know the person doesn't maintain their vehicle.
  13. This has been and always will be a heated issues. It ticks me off that there are few options esp because E(insert whatever number you want) seems to be pretty harsh on carbs. However, this is like beating a dead horse. Sadly unless there is a demand we will continue to see 100% pumps decrease and more and more ethanol in our fuel. I'm not one to believe the whole eco freindly part because you are burning more fuel (as driven said, about the percentage of E more) so it is still burning the same amount of actual fuel but with better performance (somewhat) and more cost. The only reason I say more cost is the only 100% pump near me charges the same for 100% as others do for ~E15 (they don't say how much exactly). The only thing that can be done is write to government and make requests at local stations (mom and pops if you have any around). If enough intrest is generated we might get a few more stations before they are all pushed out.
  14. Lol, that sounds painful. This reg cab isn't as bad as I first thought, but I can see me getting in it tired from work and knocking me knee/head/hip off with the size of the steering wheel and the heigh of the roof :P If I could find a decent wheel that was maybe 1 inch less in diameter that would be perfect, but balancing that with low/no speed turning would be a problem. We are going to chec the steering out, I have a feeling it hasn't been serviced in a while... Maybe never been serviced at all. Did a temporary mount on the seat, cut angle iron, drilled holes, new bolts. Truck loos good out there in the work parking lot but it is taking all I have not to go out there and run it down the interstate :P
  15. Welcome, glad to see Beebani has recruited/sold you a datto :P
  16. Haha, that is awesome. I wish I could get my son to take an intrest in cars. He is more into TV ninja turtles... Six years old and doesn't spend hardly any time outside :( When he comes over to my house the doors get shut and he is out in the yard or on the trampoline. Can't have him getting lazy like me :P
  17. They are just so much more fun to work on than my honda. Feels like a million bucks when you can fix something just by adding a relay or updating wiring :P My honda is such a pain. Breaks down more than a probe and its just boring to have to replace yet another head gasket. Gotta love felpro right...
  18. I am totally new to the datto scene. Posted my info and started a build thread and the more I look at everything the more I want another datto... I am so torn between the 510s, 710 coupes, lovely little 210s, and those awesome surfer 521s. Is there any way to satiate Datsun love?... For the time being I am loving every minute of my 620, but it is hard not too look for another project, even with the 620 parts coming in and the civic parts already in the closet... I think I could spend weeks just tearing down my truck if it wasn't for work and college. I spend more time on Datsun forums than I do on my school work (still keeping those grades up though.) Anyway, I just want to say awesome job to every build I have not commented on yet. You guys are doing your thing and showing these great cars the attention they deserve. This is the best community I have joined throughout all of my vehicles. You guys are gals are awesome, even beating out all those honda guys everyone talks so much about. Wish you all the best of luck and drop in to say hi once in a while :)
  19. Loving the GTR style flares from the pics. All in all it is up to you, but I personally think the flares would look better and require much less work. Another thing to keep in mind, if the stock fenders are modified it can be a real pain trying to fix them. Whichever way you go, I'm looking forward to following this thread. You may have just changed my second datto from a 510 to one of these lovelies :)
  20. That rock crawler is slick. You would probably be the only one that could make the dragon :P Edit: On a side note, any of you guys know of any swap meets in the south east for our little dattos? I keep finding cruises and a few shows, but next to no or markets are included. Maybe I should just go to the cruises and meets and beg for info on parts... I'll take my Datsun coffee cup and beg for numbers/directions from the people that pass me :P
  21. We were pretty drunk by that point, but the brakes work great and the truck runs so we accomplished a lot :P
  22. Alright, got a little update with a few oics but first some quick info on the carb. Neighbor came over and helped us work on it, come to find out it is on backwards. I will try to take a pic of the way it was wired to the choke but the cable pulls wrong. Choke pulled out in the truck = open, pushed in = closed. We also had to tighten the cable because even when I closed it in the truck it was still open 1/4th inch. Now the truck runs great and cranks 90% of the time with no gas pedal action. On to some pics: PARTS! Dat ratsun love. Best emblem ever. New relay, fuse, and wire for starter update. Interestingly enough, the pads will be returned. Turns out the brakes were shit because the PO didn't bleed them, now they are working like a champ. Gotta love saving monies. Sadly progress will probably be slow the rest of this month. I was screwed out of a day of pay so I had to let go of some offers on a few parts. Should be back on track after the 1st of February. Budgets are a bitch... Edit: Forgot a pic. PO painted the drums on the truck, took forever to break the paint seal. Here is the result: You can also see the undercoat paint.
  23. God no... I can see my poor L18 jumping out and running home when we pull up to the dragon...
  24. Sounds fun, I know the first show I plan to go to is in Atlanta next month but I will be heading to KY in April for a decent sized cruise. Would be great to have more shows/cruises within 3-4 hours of home :P
