  1. Impact works great.... As far as spring compressors go i live in stanwood and have a set if you wanna borrow them, but there not MANDATORY just stand back and it all pops apart :) Good progress, cant wait to see the thing a bit lower
  2. I went through a few (meybe a year) slow months with not much going on due to lack of funds (im in highschool and funding the project myself) and the community on hybridz is... ____ not as friendly as here!

  4. i had a build thread on hybridz but havent touched it in months, decided to start a new one and keep up to date on it. Working on it is generally spontanieous but itll be done one day! It currently sits sandblasted on a rotissire in my shop. Floor pans have been cut out and replaced. spare tire is cut out and will be replaced with a fuel cell. sun roof is filled. battery tray area replaced. firewall rot fixed. rocker rot fixed. Made one off fiberglass fender flares for the rear and bought some fenders up front. built a chevy 350 (lt1) Rebuilt a t5 tranny to put behind it. made a crossmember and motor mounts, tranny crossmember. lowered my seat mounts, "tubbed the rear" not really but sort of. i needed crazy clearence for my wheel tire combo and its going to be pretty low, so everything had to go. built a custom taillight panel. and spent the entire time ive been building the car scrounging up parts. shaved anything that could be shaved. To do list: full cage Make my wire harness using a factory harness and an lt1 engine harness finish and attach flares finish body work and bondo Paint Assemble Sounds easy enough right? Oh and for the record i started this when i was 16 so for all you old folk who keep giving me shit about swapping my 510.... I have the skill! and it wont end up as another lost datsun And ill leave you with these pics for now....sorry there all mis matched as far as a timeline goes....

Hey guys, im not in too big a rush but im looking for someone in western wa to give me a hand with my dual 38 Su's, ive read through lots of write ups on tuning and everytime i touch them they get worse. At this point im sure everything needs to be re adjusted i know the float level in one carb is off and at a zero start it stumbles and hesitates unless you give it a bit more gas or get the rpms up. Im sure if they were setup properly id get better performance/mileage Im a hands on kinda guy so im not looking to drop it off at a shop for 80-100 bucks an hour but im willing to pay someone to give me a hand

I have some spare stuff laying around that i know longer need if my prices seem unreasonable let me know, i dont have much idea what a lot of this stuff is worth Located in stanwood wa, prefer pickup or meet up but will ship (exception of the motor and header) Datsun 1600 OHC valve cover, was in the process of polishing, needs to be finished. 30$ Long Tube header, ran on both an l16 and l20 in my 510 100$ 2 barrel carb intake manifold 20$ Radiator shroud 10$ L20b, just came out of my 71 510, ran when pulled a few weeks ago, leaky valve guides (hve new ones), front cover gaskets leaked a little, has a ported head on it, pretty quick motor. Good compression Flywheel oil pump fan fan pulley waterpump new headgasket in it crank pulley alternator Good clutch and pressure plate Almost complete, no distributer it stayed in my car, willing to part the motor out or take it away for 125$ you can pm or Email spudly13@msn.com id also be in interested in a part trade (cash on my end) for a set of wheels, either 13 14 15 or 16 by 7 or 8

  10. I Have a 71 datsun 510 with a stock l16, stock fuel pump. my most recent problem is gas coming out of the vent on the top of one dual Su at high rpms Wondering what causes it before i go taking it apart!
  11. To bad that build stalled out, would have been interesting to see how it worked. I havent considered a 3800 but am going to look into it a little now that you mention it! I was pushing right around 150 with a boosted l20, and for a dd it was about right, a little more would have been nice.

' i dont deny it can be done, but an lt1 i have sitting in the shop measures roughly 28inches from back of engine to front of waterpump, plus an inch or two for the big bell housing. engine bay minus radiator measures roughly 30 inches if you re locate everything on the firewall. Just a little tight for the what im looking to do with it :)

But in theory a 4.3 should be a few inches shorter? thats what steered me away from any v8, it simply wont fit in a stock enginebay, a 4.3 may weigh close to the same but with simple bolt ons and a 4 barrel carb it can produce 220 no problem, Wiring and fuel injection confuse me a little, thats what scares me away from ka and sr motors....well that and cost
  15. So, as the title says, im considering either a 2.8 or 4.3 liter v6 swap into my 71 4dr 510 sedan. I have a brand new T5 + racing clutch, and i know the obvious problems, steering, suspension, mounting, driveshaft, but am curious if anyone has any links to others that have been done or any other problems you think ill run into, even through in your personal opinion. Its just an idea at the moment so hopefully no one gets offended at the thought of a chevy engine in a datsun! (although my current build is a 260z and an ls1) Let me know what you think

  17. I didnt stick around long, but im definately going to try and get to more meets! Just gotta source a new turbo before the next one :( i knew it was runnin funny, then bam blew up on the drive home!
