  1. I was just saying the other day how much I miss the old ratsun.

    Every other forum has the same thing happen when they get this big. The classifieds still suck a fat dick here.  Haven't been able to sell a damn thing since.  Conversation in the threads drew interested and helped generate sales.

     

    Oh great. I get to create a for sale ad then go make another thread about it and hope people actually go there in the masses and look like they used too.  lol ok.

  2. sounds like the same noise my transmission makes ...i can only hear it when im in 3rd gear during acceleration... sounds like a metal noise.. mine still does it so i think i have a gear or a bearing going out in my transmission... its a 4 speed manual  

  3. well today i found the reasons for the knocking noise....drumroll please ...... i threw a 18 mm socket on the cam timing sproket put the bolt in and rotated the cam... exhaust valve on cylinder 4... no close ... stuck... siezed... going nowhere....  #4 piston has a tiny chomp in it, not a smiley chomp or a crescent moon shape, small indent mark... So there Ya have it winner winner chicken dinner , stuck valve   

  4. use a z flywheel... there lighter that a truck ..something like 24lbs ? i think dont qoute me .. if you want to lighten a flywheel go to seattle autosport and they will do it for you ... question answered 

  5. i wish there was a solution for cracks in dashes, ive often thought of taking the crack and cutting it out then trying to fill it in with a rubber compound of some sort... sanding it down smooth , then repainting the whole dash... there are a bunch of filler and stuff at Tap plastics... im sure theres one that would work... Hell maybe E6000 glue ?

  6. well maybe its a US model verses Canada ? ... But yes i am amazed to see the water ports there also ....i agree the vent tube is very different than my 610 truck crank case vent tube... But since Im not using this block anymore , its going into the shed... the block im now throwing in it is a L20B block from a truck with No water Ports in the head ...

     The block went in to the shop today it will be ready in a week... I gave up on the radiator search, and im throwing in a 620 truck RAD instead with a trans cooler ... I have to make a braket to make it mount in as the truck Rad is 1 inch smaller on both sides... i got estimates on the recore for the car and it ran 300 to 500 dollars... screw that , no way  

  7. well its off , and i got rid of all that EGR crap too ... this head has the coolant water running through the head ? my L20 engine doesnt ... so Im going to have plug up the Intake manifold water lines because my new Block and Head dont have them

  8. Well after driving my car and then coming home, the next day I started it and there was a bad knocking sound coming from the engine... so i shut it off immediately to prevent further damage to the engine..... I spent 3 hours on it today and tore it down...

    So far i have not found the knocking culprit.... plugs look great.. head is good , all lash pads in tack and valves opening and close good.... Piston and cylinder walls look good... 

    I am going to pull the block later this week, and as i suspect its going to be a crank issue, or crank bearing issue...

     But my major problem is the radiator is shot, and i cant find ANY TO REPLACE it with..

    My only option is to use my new 620 truck radiator With a transmission cooler ( Hayden ) attached to the front of it .... A rebuild 610 radiator or re core is 300 to 500 Bucks.... Any radiator suggestions would be Helpful as im stuck in this area 

  9. for the record I'm not trying to be a douchebag I'm just frustrated as I'm trying to get this car ready for a car show and possibly have it sold but now I have to do a complete motor swap and I dont want to do it... putting money into a car that's 20 some years old that I'm not going to recoup financially
