  1. Too late fellas, I already have a GT2860RS "Disco Potato" with a .64 A/R to fit the T25 flange housing. Looking for quick spool and around 350hp. Nothing crazy, but definitely responsive. I am open to hearing criticism....
  2. Dude, you have no idea how immensely helpful that is. Thank you for takin the time to read through the thread and I really appreciate the answers to those questions. I will look in to the manifolds shortly. Are there any good fabricators you can recommend?
  3. Reliable and talented fabricators are truly worth the money. *ahem, cough* Ermish *cough* Speaking of which I need to order rear coilovers.
  4. Saw this today too on my regular afternoon eBay Datsun 510 search. They look pretty good. So..... Who's going to volunteer to buy, try, and report?? Not it!!
  5. You know the farther I get in to this project, I have learned two very valuable lessons. First, no matter how well you may prepare in advance, there are always things you will need to do over at least once to get right. This is what has stalled my build thread recently. Second, that you cannot pay enough for the quality of work that a good fabricator with a passion for his/her/their work will do. If you find a fabricator on this board, with good crediability and a similar project you cannot go wrong. And as an added bonus, the parts are usually cheaper then what you would pay at a shop or on eBay. Coming in this week... Datsport suspension and handling kit, wilwood brakes (front and rear), sway bar (thanks Dennis), s13 sr20det spark plug cover, powder coated parts (valve cover, intake manifold, and lower oil pan), machined hubs, Datsport transmission tunnel cover, and Datsport transmission mount.... Been an expensive month, but hoping to get the suspension, brakes, and engine sewn up over the holiday. My apologies for the lack of picture updates fellas....
  6. Since we are on the topic of motor mounts and engine mounting here, I read something recently and wanted your guys' thoughts. I read that the natural angle of the engine in whatever vehicle it comes in is often over-looked. So if the SR20DET sat in a JDM 180sx at a certain inclination, this would be the same angle that you would want to recreate in the engine's new home. I was reading on harmonic balances and found my way on that topic. Does this angle really matter? Obviously we are all considering different engine mounts that have an effect. DISLEXICDIME with L motor mounts and spacers, Dennis with 620 mounts and maybe McKinney later, I was planning on OEM sr20det mounts on the Datsport kit, but that has become an epic and costly fail (until I sell it - thanks Dennis!!).
  7. Great!! I'll pick that bottom one up then in brass, any thoughts on the second one? Shoul I be looking online at hardware stores instead?
  8. Dennis, your engine was sitting too high right? Did you sort that out yet? Are you running a top feed fuel rail?
  9. So I have been searching high and low for these two pieces for my sr20 build, but have had no luck. Can anyone please help point me in the right direction?? These are the only pieces I still need and the $tealership couldn't even identify them!!!
  10. Wow!! Now that is an interesting story!! Would love to see more pics of the color choice. Reminds me a little of Laguna Seca Blue from the BMW e46 m3, but slightly toned down a notch.
  11. I second the great color motion. Wow he committed to making this project special really quickly. No wife on the spending committee??
  12. Pics are always welcome!! What engine mounts is your piece built for?
  13. This is true. Think $1,100 is doable? It sells for $1,335, but then shipping is $200+. So a buyer would be saving at least $400. I appreciate the support Dennis!
  14. Damn it! I love you, but I hate you right now. Considering I don't want to go larger than 15" and +35 probably still won't clear the angle of the strut tube, I may be in for some problems.
  15. Are you telling me that the Datsport crossmember and LCAs won't work with the 280zx struts and Wilwood BBK!?? I may cry... EDIT - just checked, I'm good. Sorry my friend, the 280zx struts will not be sold. :)
  16. I am so excited!!!! I just picked up a new and never used Datsport Conversion and Handling kit for a steal!!! It was originally meant for the 180B to SR conversion, but is effectively the same as the 1600 / 510 kit. After talking to Baz and company over at Datsport, all I need now is a transmission crossmember and an idler arm. Anyone have any suitable suggestions?? I am back to the build once I get my powder coated SR parts (Valve cover, intake manifold, and lower oil pan) back. I have also been waiting to pull the engine because I am in the process of moving and I don't want to have an undriveable car for the move. Brakes should be done in a week and then I will get to work on the suspension.
  17. Wow!! Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad everyone is okay.
  18. Nice pick up!! Congrats and happy birthday!!!
  19. I'm a convinced man fellas. I am going to bite the bullet and get that engine out over the holiday. Like Dennis made mention of, I am getting demotivated. The whole front end is already apart and ready anyway. I also have the new core support and steering linkage on order. I figure engine out this weekend and new engine in two weeks after. I can order my rear coil overs this weekend and have all the suspension and brakes ready to go and drive for a bit. Can't wait!!
  20. Dennis!! I noticed you were doing it this way too. As I started thinking about things like relocating the battery to the trunk, adding hood shocks, and now my new found suicide wiper problem it has become more and more apparent that I am going to have to do some assembly well before paint. I guess it was a rookie mistake on my part. Isn't it twice the work to get it running and then get it painted? Are you going to pull the engine again? I figured if I painted myself I could prep the bay, paint, get it running, and then do body work. What is the best route?
  21. There is a part of me that really wants to, but I'm still conflicted about it. I really shouldn't try to do it myself if there are more appropriate techniques for welding I don't know about. It seems pretty simple, but I will be driving the car a lot so I don't want to take unnecessary chances with my life. I think once I do enough reading I will begin to feel more confident. Do I need a TIG and a MIG?? The other part of me just thinks I should plan to do it all and learn to do bondo and paint too. It will just take longer to master each skill and finally drive her. I am do eager to fire that engine up it is killing me.
  22. Had a shocking realization today. Took some parts to powder coat and was day dreaming for a moment while staring in to the engine bay. I am not 100%, but the 1968 suicide wipers may not work with the sr engine. The center wiper motor looks like it mounts too low on the bracket and may hit the back of the valve cover. Someone tell me it is not true or that there is a work around???
  23. Of course I can hook you up. After all the help you have given me, dude I owe you a lot more than that. PM sent. Just let me know how I can help.
