Datson
I recently purchased a '80 720 5-speed pickup, and the idle is very high, for instance I made it across town with out touching the gas, including starting from a red light. What I would like to know is where the Idle screw is, and which way to turn it to lower the idle. You'll have to excuse me, I'm not very bright when it comes to mechanics. Any help is appreciated. coolioni
Either the screw needs to be turned down or the the throtttle CABLE IS STICKING. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Possible causes: Secondary stuck slightly open or not closing. Auto choke heater not working... choke on along with fast idle cam setting. Throttle cable inside sheath is worn and frayed causing it to stick and not allow the primary barrel to close.
