saw a 4x4 521 in a impound lot today-

Sorry, no pics!

but it's a post-70 (side marker lights) with no front bumper/splash pan unknown straight axle, flat-black primer, "trailer lights" cut into the tailgate, and a roll bar which may or may not be just sitting in the bed...

Looks like it's been there for a stretch of time at least-

I've never considered trying to buy a car from a "tow-yard" until today...

(think they'll just trade me for the 620?)

Anyone want to post tips on what to watch/ask/pay for??

I really would get use out of a 4x4....

No! I'm pretty sure the 620 didn't even come 4x4 (only "dealer installed").

I forgot to count the lug pattern

:(

No batteries in the camera, only 1/2 what it needs (<->battery count).

Will take the batteries and camera tommorrow, fingers crossed.

I spied it cause I noticed the late-model 510 (with what looked like a 710 grill?)

I don't know my 510's that well, but it was definately after '72;

and it said "datsun510"

But really though- I've been goood-

no repo and towing yards; more than a week.

So how"s that work?

Is it possible for me to contact the real owner?

I have the plate number.

Thanks!

Best bet is to contact whoever owns the yard to see if its even available

It will have to sit for a certain amount of time before the yard can legally sell it. Ask them how long till it is available and that you are interested in the truck for $150 over the cost of the tow bill. They'll sell it to ya.

I was under the impression the 720 was the 1st stock 4x4 available.

Correct. All others were done outside of the factory.
