ImInked Posted December 29, 2008 Report Share Posted December 29, 2008 Hey guys, i just bought a '71 521 and the firewall is cracked right behind the gas peddle. needless to say the gas peddle flops around quite a bit and sometimes ends up behind the brake peddle!!! not too safe. would anyone on here want to weld that up for me? welding is not my strong point. nor do i have a welder. i've called all over the place and it seems no one wants to do this. any help?? Jester Posted December 30, 2008 Report Share Posted December 30, 2008 I put a small peice of angle iron on the back side of mine and welded it in. I just shaped it to match the small ledge right were it is spot welded at the factory. Quote Link to comment

ImInked Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 30, 2008 I ended up fanning a patch panel for it out of steel. Endubguy, yes, ask your buddy if he could weld my patch in place. Right now I have it bolted down but would like it welded. PM me with his info. Yes, when I drove it home the peddle got stuck under the brake! I don't ever want that to happen again.
