Clutch adjustment

Recommended Posts

Question about clutch adjustment, I don’t really like how it grabs really soon. Would backing up the locknut on the adjustable rod make it grab a little later?

No, it will only add useless travel at the start of the stroke. Too much and there may not be enough to fully disengage the clutch.

I only have the 620 pedal adjustments but are likely close. Just confirm. Pedal height from floor about 6.4"

Push down on pedal with thumb till there is firmer resistance. Pedal should have a couple of mm or 1/16" of play. Adjust the clevis on the end of the master push rod to get this.

Datsun clutches are so light all you need do is keep heel on the floor and lift toes in the direction of the knee.

If it’s grabbing very soon, it could be that your throw on the slave cylinder isn’t adjusted, or there is air in the line. Do you have the large spring hooked up on the slave cylinder such that it holds the “cone” into the cup on the clutch arm? You may need to turn the cone out some to increase the throw on the clutch arm without going too far.
