Skellzor65
I'm about to change the oil on my 86 for the first time since I've owned it. Is there any additive suggestions? I've heard of people adding zinc to older engines oil, I just don't know if the 2.4 would require that or not Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
After '93 all oil makers have been reducing the anti scuff additive ZDDP. Today it's been reduced from over 1,000 ppm to around 650 PPM. The fix is simple, I use Shell Rotella T4 which is a diesel oil with 1,200 ppm ZDDP zinc anti scuff additives. You don't have to buy anything extra just switch your oil. Rotella T4 comes in 10w30 and 15w40. I've been using it for over 10 years. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
DwayneOxford
Just called Rotella about their T6 Full Synthetic. All except the 5W-30 have 1200 PPM, it's 800. Edited January 2 by DwayneOxford 1 Quote Link to comment
