Bstock
Weird issue recently. When driving I have a slight squeal. When I depress the clutch it goes away. When I show down with the gears it speaks very loudly. I had my fly wheel refinished 4 years ago and new clutch kit. I assumed my throw out beating was the culprit so I just bought a whole new kit. I replaced my 4 year old clutch with a new kit. Low and behold the squeak is still there. I have no idea what else it could be at this point. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Release bearings (throw out) are not in use when driving only when the clutch is depressed. I would immediately check the oil level in the transmission. Quote Link to comment
Bstock
Thanks for the quick reply. I did also drain the old oil, which came out beautiful and golden still. I was using 80-90 redline. Also refilled it till it came out of the fill plug. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Unlikely the transmission or clutch assembly now. Inspect the U joints, specially the front one. They are pressed in on my '76 and had to replace the whole thing. A drive line shop can probably grind away the staking and fit new ones, I don't know the procedure for holding them in place. Bstock
Ah, maybe so! I never considered the u joint. I'll try to call around today. Thanks for the ideas Mike! Quote Link to comment
