robert.davis Posted May 23, 2021 Report Share Posted May 23, 2021 I seam to have a leak at my transmission and right now i was swapping out my carrier bearing on the driveshaft and figured id check out the leak and i thought it might be the seal going from end of the transmission to the drive shaft. I thought it would be metal but its a rubber seal... it spins. Is that a bad sign and should i replace it or is it meant to spin with the driveline and if so any other ideas on where the leak could be bc i cant really seem to tell i thought it could be from wherever the shifter is at(whatever that part is called excuse my ignored) it seems to have a lot if oil around there but i figured id probably see it on the inside of the cab as well on my shifter boot 1 Quote Link to comment
NC85ST Posted May 24, 2021 Report Share Posted May 24, 2021 The tail shaft seal should not spin. The seal is a combination of rubber and metal. The rubber may have broken away from the metal portion. I would buy a new seal. The metal part of the seal is probably still there. Use a screwdriver to pry it out and pop the new one in. Use a little grease on the lip of the seal where the driveshaft slides in. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
