Engine is a L18 on a Datsun 720 KC

Starter is a Mitsubishi M3T20681

Pinion have stamped 333 71

Try pushing that black part down. The 'clip' should be right tight up against it. It may appear as a round wire ring with the the ends touching forming a small crack.

Really?

Damn...i might have to start using reading glasses or a magnifier!

😀

I will check and come back to confirm...thanks A LOT..!

Hey!

How am i suposed to take that ring from there?

The outer race of the bearing is so close to the ring that it doesn't allow it to expand enough to come out of the groove...

Good question, I can see it now.

Carefully push, or tap, or drive the bearing? (called the pinion stopper) back towards the starter. This will expose the pinion stopper clip so you can pry it out.
