HomeTinkerer
Hi all! Potential newbie to the forum depending on whether or not I pull the trigger on a 1979 B310 for sale in my area. Had a few questions from you pros on what a good price for it would be, what issues to look for if I go to check it out, etc. I know the usual basics for a vehicle but I know every model has it's quirks. Two owner vehicle. Listing/odometer says 24,6xx miles on it, but obviously there's a good chance the odometer has rolled over already. It's blue on blue and the top of the dash looks cracked in the pictures. Also seems to be missing the rear bumper. Otherwise the exterior looks clean. Looks to also have an aftermarket radio installed at some point. It's a southern vehicle so I don't think rust is going to be a huge issue but I'd love insight into where it starts/is most prevalent. Apparently runs and drives great aside from a carb adjustment needed. Plus anything else you guys might have insights into! Just want to make informed decisions if/when I go to look at the thing. Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
80datson
if you post pics, that would help or a link to the add so we can get an idea of its detail, could be 600 up to 4500 Quote Link to comment
pdp8
So little info here... The 5-speeds are worth a premium over the autos by ~$800. Where to look for rust: bottom back of the fenders is the spot that almost always goes first. After that it's the back bottom corners of the front doors. Then it varies, sometimes it's around the front windshield and sometimes it's the tops of the wheel arches. Once again, no pics and no details = wild ass guess. That said, $2100-3500 is about the range I'm used to in this part of the world unless it's junk or particularly nice. 1 Quote Link to comment
BluEvo210
At what mileage do the odometers roll over in these cars? My WHLB310 has 195,xxx miles right now, and the odometer shows it accurately. (It's the trip odometer that has broken. 😟) The aftermarket radio is probably par for the course, isn't it? I can't imagine the original radio surviving this long. I'm pretty sure the 5-speed was an extra-cost option and there are some going around with a 1.2L engine and a 4-speed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Used to be 99,999 but if you have 6 digit then 999,999. Quote Link to comment
