was looking around and wondering if you guys put different carbs on z engines much or if you just run stock carbs, Im not looking for crazy power gains just get rid of the dumb emissions that are actually causing me troubles and allow me to change jetting and stuff but still have a good functioning choke so I can daily the thing easily.

The emissions devices can cause problems if they are not maintained or if you remove then improperly. You can remove or deactivate the emissions devices but they really don't have any effect on full throttle performance. '80s carbed engines' emissions devices tended towards small adjustments after warm up and at moderate speeds. It's probably easier to check that the hoses are connected properly and are not split or loose. The stock carb is best over all but very complex. Most swap a 2/36 Weber on but you're looking at $300 to do this right and there are a lot of POS Chinese knock offs.

How about just running a larger secondary jet? It's vacuum operated so only gets used WOT at 2,500-3,000 and up when floored. Again you could stiffen the spring to delay the opening. I think nitrous needs the engine revved up a bit before you 'hit it' anyway. Maybe a switch on the carb so nitrous only when the secondary opens. Most driving is on the primary barrel anyway.

Most secondaries are about 160 or 170 or I think 1.6mm or 1.7mm jet. A 190 would be a 25% increase in cross section so I guess 25% more fuel?
