datzenmike
I find most people want to remove the emission system because they don't understand what it does, and you always fear what you don't understand. It's a lot of work to do right and there are no gains whatever too be made doing so and a good chance of causing a problem like a vacuum leak. Some emissions devices actually save gas. Another makes the engine run better in extreme hot or cold weather. You can't cap the pipe off as this is how the fuel tank is vented. Air has to get in as fuel is removed or it will collapse. You will likely smell fumes if you put a small filter on the end. Not a good idea to remove the Charcoal canister. It has absolutely nothing to do with robbing any HP when it is working. You will never know it's there. The EGR? Meh.... that can go, but only because it can fail and cause problems unlike the canister. The EGR is NOT working under these conditions... Idle Engine is cold and warming up Full throttle. So not robbing any HP when throttle is floored to make power. 1 Quote Link to comment
