Morrisun
Well all that seems simple enough, only it's NOT! Here is a very good place to start, complete with circles and arrows and a paragraph about of some, most times, all of the engines may require:http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Category:Engine_Mechanical It's a good read. Cylinder Heads:http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Cylinder_Head_Identification Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
No reliable way as there are so many things that could have been swapped. Best look for the engine ID stamped into the top of the block A 15 A 14 or stamped below the number 4 plug. A 12 also below the number 4 plug Only the coupe had a 63A 5 speed available from December or April '76. The GX is just dress up badges only on coupe models from August '77 on and included a 5 speed emblem. All GX cars were standard A14 engines same as used on the sedans.. 1 Quote Link to comment
Morrisun
The A14 performance engine is refer to as a A14T. Here's a link to that particular engine: http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Hitachi_Twin_Carb#A14T_Engine A simple visual tip-off is dual valve springs and dual carbs. So i have the dogleg 5 speed but it was swapped onto my car before i got so i guess now im wondering if it is the same as the one on my previous 78GX or the lesser 60 series IOW not the 63. datzenmike
Don't think the A14T was ever an option here. So if looking, try Japan or maybe Australia. Cheaper to buy an after market intake and carbs. 5 Speeds for A series 63A only used on the B-210 coupe after '76. Take a look on the tail half of the transmission on the right or passenger side near the reverse lamp switch, to the rear of the adapter plate. There were two 60 series An early '79 dogleg shift and a late '79-'82 regular shift pattern. Look on front of case forward of the adapter plate. Quote Link to comment
