datzenmike
A '77-'78 is a mid ratio and the '79 is a wide ratio box. Place in first gear, mark the input and output splines. Turn input shaft 20 times and count the output turns.... '77-'78..... 6.0... output turns.... mid ratio '79........... 5.5... output turns.... wide ratio Rebuilt by a reputable transmission company $400-$500 for parts and labor. Then the value of the used rebuildable core to begin with. Probably includes a warranty. If rebuilt at home there is more leeway on the price for labor. Rebuild kits vary greatly in cost and quality and it's harder to assess if the work was done properly, completely, competently. Is a warranty included? You know what you paid for it, but ultimately it will sell for what someone is willing to pay for it. Availability. If they are plentiful they are usually cheap. Demand. May not be in great demand because of easy availability or simply, no one needs one. Location. The only market for it is in Alaska and equal to that of shipping it. Place here http://community.ratsun.net/classifieds/category/5-drivetrain/?sort_key=date_added&sort_order=desc with your best high guess and wait and or lower as needed until it sells. 1 Quote Link to comment
