Hey all,

Car is running well and the clutch engagement is perfect. Thanks to Les over in Vista, I got my oil pressure gauge working and the readings are good!

I thought now would be a great time to address all the gauges and wiring issues. I got the tach working for a few minutes after running a new wire to the negative post on the coil and then a fuse blew. I replaced the fuse but the vdo gauges' back lights are not working as well as the ignition warning light on the dash. I'm going to post this topic in electrical. I have very limited experience with wiring, let alone trouble shooting it. I do have a budget meter I bought a while ago from Home Depot, but no clue on how to use it. Any references to a single site (so I don't get confused) such as the idiots guide to auto electrical diagnostics would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again,

I'm not one to comment much on electrical issue, but I wanted to stop into say I like the car. And just like everyone else, I want some updates :)

Sorry that I dropped off the radar. I was able to bring the brakes back to life so I slapped r888 onto the 13x7 libres and went for a drive. The car was driving ok considering the carb needed a correct rebuild and every bushing needs to be replaced. I was running a single 45dcoe which I was told was the wrong way to go, rather use the twin webers.

So here I am, rebuilding the webers on my own since paradise vw did a terrible job.

Right now one of the carb bodies is soaking in a harbor freight sonic cleaner filled with heated mineral spirits. Once they are reassembled, I'm faced with a serious first world problem, which header to use. I'll be posting that in the exhaust thread.
