81sunnyson
ok so head gasket is not even six months old, but blew in 90 degrees weather.head plug also blew. heard a loud pop, steam, rattle original gasket was okay six months ago when i pulled head to fix burnt valve. wish i had left it alone now comp tested 120 psi on first three cylinders but 180 on #4, which had the replaced valve n no compression could cylinder pressure be so uneven to fail the gasket? warped head? torqued head bolts wrong? datzenmike
What's a head plug? The casting plug, AKA frost plug? Is your temperature gauge working? Sounds like you overheated it. could cylinder pressure be so uneven to fail the gasket? no warped head? Might have been warped before. They usually blow again if they were and it wasn't fixed. It may be warped now. torqued head bolts wrong? Possibly, if it was warped as well or over heated. Quote Link to comment

81sunnyson
coolant over flows into catch can so sure radiator clogged or other issue. foamy always since had it. super grey condensation in winter. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Coolant flow into catch can is normal on coolant recovery equipped vehicles, this is what it does. When the engine cools the coolant siphons back and fills the rad. If you mean over flows the catch can this is a sign of a blown head gasket. Quote Link to comment
81sunnyson
piston has a few nicks....or more like material on surface from gasket fused onto it, which has made indentation on combustion chamber Quote Link to comment
