NC280z
Good evening all, I've got a '75 280z with the stock Hitachi AM/FM radio installed, and need some advice on fine-tuning the reception. I've installed a new antenna, replaced the extension cables between the radio and antenna, and I'm having some difficulty picking up stations. I've got a FM transmitter hooked up to my MP3 player, and with this close to the antenna I still have a hard time picking up the station, and the volume has to be turned all the way up to hear much of anything. Now I know that there's a trimmer on the back of the set, but is this solely for AM? I've searched for a manual for this radio, but most of the materials I find are simply advertisement information and product info. I'd really like to keep the stock radio, anyone have any experience tuning and working on these radios? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
This is from a 521 service manual, paraphrased. Extend the antenna completely. Tune the radio to 1,400 KC, disregard any noise. Turn the antenna trimmer right and left, to the point the noise is highest. That is for an AM only radio. I know your radio is AM/FM, but do the same thing any way. the worst that could happen is the AM only reception gets better. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The radio is bad. Or maybe the transmitter. Quote Link to comment
