juiceman9025
Hello everyone! I'm Hugo and I'm from Phienix, AZ. I recently got a hold of a 1985 Nissan 720 pickup. It's a regular cab, 2wd, and shortbed. It has the 5spd and Z24S engine, but had a blown headgasket. Kid I bought it from replaced the gasket, but I noticed that he did not put the washers back onto some of the headbolts when he reassembled. Oh well, already bought another motor when I noticed this. Paint on it is mismatching and fugly, with runs and shitty bondo work everywhere! That is changing as soon as I can get it running and it passes smog. Been working on it slowly and working towards getting a running ka24e swap started. I've bought quite a bit of KA parts (starting to hate KA's with a passion, should just bought/swapped in a VG30 -_-), because I was planning on doing a KAZ24. Well, I found a KA24DE in Tucson for cheap, but ended up being a waste (block was siezed, but saved the head and other parts). Recently I got ahold of a 240sx KA24E block, so I'm slapping it together and throwing it in soon! For now here a few pictures of the truck: The night I went to go pick it up: When I got it home finally: [/url] Interior shots. Surprised me that it looks pretty decent being an Arizona truck and all: Now for the engine: So got a bit of work ahead of me but not too bad. I already have the KA on a stand and I'm almost finished cleaning it up to start reassembling. Also have all the gaskets ready to go on. No pics yet though. It's not a bad motor, but I'm a VG30 guy myself. Here's why: 1986 300ZX, 5spd, t-top and na/non turbo. First car, but is now dead (wrecked) and gone :/. So nice, I miss this thing. Current g-ride. 1984 300ZX hardtop (rare), 5spd,and na2t (non turbo motor with turbo parts slapped on). A few mods done to it, but needs more boost lol. Quick and fun little car, love it to death. Mine's on the right, left is my friends car (both hardtops lol): Dad also has a v6 hardbody, but won't give it up lol. Anyway, any input from others who have done this swap is appreciated! 5 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Hi Hugo, welcome to Ratsun. You can easily a safely replace those washers removing each head bolt one at a time and torquing it to 60 ft. lbs. As long as only one bolt is loose at a time you are good. 1 Quote Link to comment
WI 720
Thanks for sharing; keep us updated. I like the rims on the truck. Those are very cool. 1 Quote Link to comment
juiceman9025
Thanks guys! datzenmike: I should have tried that first, but the water had already contaminated the oil in block. Engine is out now and it still looks good, so I may keep it was a back up. I've read a few of your posts on various other threads and they have been very helpful. @WI 720: Thank you! The rims have GM logo on them and they look like they could be Hummer H3 wheels or similar. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Oil in water means the PO who replaced the gasket either never changed the oil out or the head is warped and it blew again. 1 Quote Link to comment

juiceman9025
@scurrvy: no problem, I will let you know! @datzenmike: Have to check the straightness of the head anyway, but block checked out ok. PO was a younger kid, so figures lol. @WI 720: glad I could inspire you to make a choice! 1 Quote Link to comment
Gradyfest
Those rims do look good on a 720. Talking about the color of your truck though, I think my wife has the same color in a nail polish. 2 Quote Link to comment
