Things that cause run on or dieseling..... engine over heated compression too high/wrong octane rated gas idle too rich idle speed much too high choke stuck on or part on carb leaking inside or flooding wrong heat range plugs For now when stopping, hold foot brake on, place in forth gear, let clutch up enough to load the engine slightly, turn ignition off. Engine will stall. Only when it is fully stopped let up clutch all the way and release the brake. If automatic, shut off ignition in drive, engine will stall, then place in park. This is easy you do with some small practice and becomes so natural to do when shutting the engine down that no one will feel or even notice you doing it. Quote Link to comment
