vdubjim
Posting for future searchers. previous owner actually broke one off hood. They are 11 mm and go in from engine side under cowl. There is a lock tab needs to be bent out of way and knocked fairly flat so socket will seat. DeF don't want to strip that sucker. I used pb and finally a torch, backed each off half turn. Good to go. I didn't bend lock tabs back since bolt is rust welded to the hinge bracket nut plate. Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
???????? Are you talking about the bolts that hold the hinge to the actual hood, or the bolts that hold the actual hinge assembly to the body???? In my experience, if a 410 or 411 bolt isn't SAE 1/2 inch then it is SAE 5/8 inch. The exception is the nuts on the factory original battery clamps which are metric. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I think like a 521, an 11MM socket will fit, but a 7/16 socket will fit better. A six point socket is a lot better with old rusted bolt heads. Quote Link to comment
vdubjim
Thanks again mike for your insight and extra punctation. lol yep where the hinge bolts to cowl, kinda hard to leave the other 4 half a turn loose for the hood to open and close properly. If my 11mm fits snug and the nut/bolt comes off, then its 11mm to me. Quote Link to comment
