CicliDevotion
Both of my headlights function just fine. When I turn my brights on, the inner lights both turn on, but ONE of the regular beams cuts out. Any ideas on what's going on here? Are the regular beams and the high beams the same type of bulb and/or lamp? Or is it possible that the positions need to be switched? Quote Link to comment
Jeremiah720
Hmm that's a weird one. Maybe one of the grounds aren't constant o.o I don't think the switch is wired like that I'll look up some wiring diagrams and post them for you What year and engine 720? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The one that cuts out is burned out. To prove this, swap sides, pretty sure the problem will switch too. Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
It's an '84 with a Z24. Could it be burned out even if it works with the regular low beam on? It turns off only when I put the brights on Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The low beam headlight has two fillaments. One for low beam (aparently it works) and one for high beam. When high beams are switched on the low beams are turned off and all four high beam fillaments are turned on. Your hi/low beam headlight has the hi beam burned out.... I suppose the wire could be broken, off, or not making contact.... Switch sides... it goes out, it's bad Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
Gotcha. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Buzzbomb
Look at the part numbers on the lights because they are different. I went through this with my truck. I switched the lights around so the low beam part numbers were on the outside and the high beams were on the inside, and it all works fine now. Never noticed the numbers on the lights until I broke one.. DUH! :P Quote Link to comment
CicliDevotion
Ah! I just noticed a "1" and "2" designation on the lamps and they are switched on opposite sides of the truck. (The 1 is outside on one side, inside of the other...) I'll try a switch and see if that does the trick! Quote Link to comment
